Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.

If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.

Wood Green Animal Shelters

Wood Green Animal Shelters rescue & re-home animals - anything from a mouse to a llama. The first Shelter was founded 1924 in Wood Green, North London. It is still there today & provides treatment for sick animals whose owners cannot afford veterinary fees. There are also sites in Heydon, Hertfordshire & Godmanchester near Huntingdon. Godmanchester is the largest site at 50 acres. The Charity takes in about 10000 animals a year, sets national standards in animal care & re-homes over 80% of animals. We welcome visitors who are interested in re-homing, learning about animals or who just like to wander around. There is lots for visitors to do at the Godmanchester Shelter besides seeing the animals: there are charity, gift & pet accessory shops; water gardens; a wind turbine; restaurant/coffee shop and a playground. The Charity is funded entirely by donations & fundraising events are held at all three shelters. A variety of animals are available for sponsorship (Pen Pal Pets) including - pigs, donkeys, tortoises, llamas, sheep & a deer. Other ways of helping are volunteering & becoming a Young Supporter, Supporting Member or Voting Member. For further information contact the Head Office, King's Bush Farm, London Road, Godmanchester, Huntingdon PE29 2NH Tel: 01480 830014. Godmanchester has events going on most weekends.
